Looking for an extension

Hello,
Is there an extension that allows, for example, to fill a transparent tube with ping pong ball?

I have no idea if an extension like this exists, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t considering how simple it would be to model both a tube and a ball.

I know how to model a tube and a ball. What I’d like to know is whether there’s a simple way of duplicating the balls to fill the tube without copying one ball at a time. A bit like VRay’s “Scatter”, which allows you to dispatch trees on a surface.
