Layout to PDF text cutting off

Created in a different program, just imagine what this would look like if all the text were single spaced and I couldn’t squeeze it down. I would need to add sheets just to fit all the text in.

Regarding 8pt spacing instead of matching the font size, it’s odd that it only cuts off the top row when there there is no text above it

Remember that file was only an example. How is the way you work with text different?

yeah… I do see.

But my personal preference is for documents that I personally find comfortable to read and if I have to produce more sheets then so be it.

I did at some point have all my project and specification notes on sheets but I decided it wasn’t satisfactory and I now have that all as A4.

If I did that, this building department would send it back

Well, before version 2024 maybe 2023 I was adding spacing before and after certain text boxes (paragraph spacing) and I never saw this issue – I’ve never used custom line spacing.

But following this post of yours I’ve discovered that this bug also affects paragraph spacing.

I’m in the UK and the building control bodies that I work with don’t seem to be too bothered about adherance to a specific presentational standard.

I won’t hold my breath that it will be addressed soon enough. I’ll need to stop using LO for the complex projects in the meantime. Thanks for your chat. We should mark this thread as solved, in the way that there is no solution.

So I guess I’ve never seen this as I work on a Mac and cannot adjust the line spacing (unless I’m missing it somewhere…)

I tend to make my drawings legible over some requirement to use less paper or ‘pages’ - but that is not how you roll, and that is OK, so you need to overcome this bug.

If it were me I would also just add a space / blank line to the top so the text works properly and get on with my day. I can’t imagine exporting images, bringing them into other software, etc. etc… and having to do the multiple times as the job updates / changes / etc… then doing the same for the dimensions, etc. etc.

Ignoring your insults, and given the same amount of space on a sheet, which of these would be easier on the eyes and for a contractor to find the info they need?

If I want to turn a 40 page set of 24x36 drawings into a 45 page set of 24x36 drawings, that should be my choice, not LO’s.

I only need to go through the export/import process for exterior elevations and limited 3D insets, and only do this twice per project. I’ve become quite fast at it. The whole process is far quicker than dealing with all the drafting problems in LO.

The spacing adjustment is only available in the pull-down menu. They omitted it from the other settings in the default tray.

No matter. My original question has been answered. There is no way to tighten the line spacing without negative consequences.
Done.

I have no idea where I was insulting, I said:

I then went on to suggest adding a space as the first line, which I think would let you do what you want, without forcing you to go into another piece of software.

I don’t have that option on Mac, like I said I’ve never seen if before.

You could add a space / blank first line, no? Then just shift the text boxes up 1/16" or 1/8" or whatever the equivalent dimension is?

Anyway, good luck.

I started this thread to find out why text gets cut off. Someone answered that it is an issue with line spacing. Done.
I never asked how to make my drawings look like someone else’s.

By adding a blank line you could make them look like you want, until / if / when this gets fixed.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hi guys, I have issue with Layout when exporting to pdf. For this reason I can not finish my projects so I am outsorcing this part of the job elsewhere becase it looks unprofesional. I can share my file and I can show my problem by making a screenshot, so let me know if you need me to upload it here or you will see what mistake I am making just looking at screenshot.
1st pic. is from Layout

2nd. from pdf… you can see how the scale in the left bottom corner is squeezed, then, also on the right where the white square is the letters are also overlaping… and also everything seems to have the same font type, like all the text is blod and it should be bold and light

Hi again, can someone please assist or should I contiue adding text in different software? Thanks

Sure, post the file and hopefully someone can take a look.

Perhaps next time start a new topic - this one was marked solved so it isn’t as visible in the forum.

Have you tried switching fonts to see if it improves?

Hi Mike, thanks

yes I have tried different fonts but no luck…

Here is the layout file and the pdf. as well…

Thank you,
Aleks
