Layout File won't open

My Layout file won’t open. I have tried opening the backup file and keep getting an issue. All I get is a crash notification. I tried to create a copy & open the file but it didn’t work either. Could someone please help & tell me if it’s corrupted & can fix this? Thanks!

You need to provide access to the files

Sorry I thought I already did. Can you check now?

Someone familiar with Macs should get to it soon.
For some reason, it has a bunch of zeros in the middle of it.

The SKP inside the LayOut file has problems. I remade the file with that removed. You should be able to open this, then go into File/Document Setup… References, and relink the original 25 Scrivener #909_346.skp file to the missing entry.

The file opened! You are a saviour! I will try re-linking the master SKP file and update if I run into any issues.

Thanks a ton!

Before you do that make sure you give it a good cleanup.

By clean up, do you mean purging all old/unwanted files?

Thanks!

As far as the SketchUp model I mean making sure tags are used correctly (no tags given to edges or faces), unused components, materials, and styles are purged. Run CleanUp3 (from the Extension Warehouse) to merge coplanar faces and simplify the groups and components in the model. Make sure materials aren’t excessively large. All that will pay off in improved performance in LayOut.

In LayOut you should also purge unused reference files but don’t do that until you’ve relinked the SketchUp file to your project.

Yes, I have been diligently purging all items off of my model, but I had no idea about CleanUp3. I would like to test it. Although, I’ve recently switched to working on Mac after being experienced with working on Windows & despise the Mac UI. I absolutely cannot find my installed extensions and use them. I did a quick google search and that didn’t help either. Any insight here?

For CleanUp3 you need to also install the required TT_Lib as indicated in the description of the extension. Then it will be found in the Extensions menu.

Weld is a context menu item.
