Landscape contour lines

Does anyone know of an app that would speed up the creation of contour lines from, say, a Google Earth terrain map?

Doing it longhand, the general method seems to be to create a series of planes at useful vertical intervals. You then intersect with model to create the contour lines. Finally, you use sandbox tools to collapse the contour lines onto a flat plane. It isn’t hard but I imagine it could be automated. All the user might need to input would be the vertical intervals.

1001bit Tools (Pro) has a contour tool that will do this. Not to be confused with the free version (which has no terrain / contour tools).

Cheers. I’ll check it out.

If you don’t want all of 1001bit tools, you can try this SketchUp Plugins | PluginStore | SketchUcation for just a simple contour maker from a terrain mesh.
