Is this a good computer for SUp?

Folks, I need a new desktop, and I’ve just started looking even though I have no idea what I need!

along comes my cable provider with some refurbished computer deals, for very cheap!
Are either of these any good for SUp? Keep in mind I don’t do any rendering and my models are pretty small. What do you say? If neither are good I can afford a better one for around $1,500 and I’d love some recommendations!

Personally, I would not but a computer with less than 16 GB of ram. FOr any kind of modeling I prefer 32 GB.

yeah I can add ram of course. Can you recommend a better rig for me a windows user??

Both machines are too old and lack of processor power to have a good experience with sketchup, I recommend at least a 10th gen intel processor or a Ryzen series 5000, the i5 10400 and the Ryzen 5 5500 are good and cheap options. HDD are also too slow, it’ll make your entire system feel laggy, you need an SSD now days. Try to spend the most on the hardware, the peripherals you can upgrade later. If you don’t have money for a dedicated gpu right now you can get the Ryzen 5 5600G, it’s an apu with the best igpu performance you can get for a windows system.

What do you guys think of this one, and it’s not even $500! Remember I don’t do any rendering.

That one is better. It will work fine with sketchup.

If you build it by yourself or get the components and hire someone to build it for you will be a lot cheaper and with better specs. Look at this hardware I chose from pcpartpicker.

It’s less than 500 without a case, but you can get really cheap and good ones nowadays.
I chose the Ryzen 5 5600G as well and a 750W power supply in case you want yo add a gpu in the future.

@hasan1: That’s an AI generated answer… Why would you post something like that here?

That’s spooky - I was just thinking exactly the same thing :+1:

what is AI in this thread?

Hey @francisquitof no way I’m building this, I just want to buy it ready to go

could anyone recommend a better computer, if I even need something better? Some where around $1,000 + - and I’d feel a lot better. Don’t I want a Nvidia card anyway?
