Intersecting objects won't create seperate faces

I’m trying to intersect a circular shape. The items seen in the image are not grouped, all fully exploded. When intersecting faces the top, curved face will not seperate its surfaces. I’ve tried starting with grouped objects changing its size, but no matter what I do its not seperating the surfaces. I’d zoomed in to inspect the geometry looking for breaks, but can’t appear to see any. I can share the file. Any explanation welcomed.

Do so.

+1 for the file. Because I tried on my end, and it’s working as I expected.

you have SU pro, you can also use the solid tools to pretty much reach the point you want to.

I think it works better when starting the circle with less sides. I managed to achieve it by altering the softness of component, I unchecked the soften coplanar, I was then able to seperate the surfaces after intersecting. The Split oftion on the pathfinder looking tools didn’t work, it gave a message saying the object isnt solid or is locked. It wasn’t locked.

Some of what you wrote sounds like the model is too small so very short edges are being discarded by SketchUp during the intersect. If you share the file, as requested earlier, we can check things like that.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with that answer. I was making part of a bigger model, the components are huge, I scaled them right down in order to work faster. I think that answers the question. I would share the model but I continued drawing and figured out that by messing with the softness and intersecting it fixed the issue. I forgot to save the part where I got stuck.

Thank you for responses.
