First post here and it’s been a few years (okay, a decade) since I last used SketchUp, so please bear with me.
I’ve modelled a building in Rhino and the HVAC consultants need to import it into Trimble to do their thing. The easiest way to do this appears to be via SketchUp.
But: when I export the model from Rhino to .skp and then either open or import it into SketchUp, the model moves (apparently at random) from where it was positioned in Rhino. Is there a way of opening an .skp model with the origin kept intact? I read an old forum post about a setting for this being available in a dialogue box, but I don’t get a dialogue box when opening/importing?
Hello,
if there is an export from rhino to skp, the options you’re going to look for would be in rhino, so you’d have to ask in their forums.
If on another hand you are exporting your rhino model into dwg or dxf, for example, when importing it in sketchup you’ll have an “options” button that will appear in the import dialog, click on it and there you’ll have a tickable box called “preserve drawing origin”
