Im trying to find a way to model “V” shaped grooves that are milled in a flat board. They follow a irregular pattern that has been imported from CAD and drawned using splines.
There is a way to do it in CAD by selecting each spline and then using sweep command on a triangle shaped surface. After making that process 1000 times you can then place the new V shaped forms over a flat board and use a subtract command to make the grooves.
Is there a easier way in sketchup?
I would suggest the basic follow me tool?
make sure you have 'welded edges’before using the follow me tool:
Model the v-shape :
usew the follow me tool:
But that would take some effort to follow me each grain

So to simplify this, you could use an extension like “Tax Enginering” ?
Else search the extension warehouse for an extension that suits your needs.
You could use the rather old but still good Lines to Tubes from SketchUcation.

Follow me method would be slow just as i would use sweep command in CAD software.
Now this extension tax engineering im not familiar at all so idk in which direction i should be looking.
How did you achieved a V groove instead of a cylinder cutout?
As I showed in the Gif, I used 4 sides.
