How to create a complex hollow curved shape like this?

Hi I’ve been using Sketchup for a while, mainly for 3D print shapes. I’m no expert but can usually draw what I need to. I haven’t worked out a way to do this type of shape without putting in hours of work. I’m thinking of layered segments and skinning but there must be a easier way?

Test object fresh off the printer.
I made an inner shell and the insert to make a better inlet.
