You guys should look at Sketchucation Plugin Store tool. It does manage plugins effectivelly and you can create bundles.
It doesn’t do all other miracles like guessing that I’m an architect and what plugins I should use…

I’m guilty of being in the Architectural & Construction industry & drawing electronic lines for a living, even old enough to be proud of using drawing boards back in the early 80’s & using those crazy needle like ink pens. I guess large high street practices can afford to use well rounded & expensive CAD products that are capable of producing 2D, 3D, Bim & photo realistic models. Besides that, most people seem to have an allegiance with whatever software they currently use, so I’m not surprised in the down-nose comments by non-su’ers, we all tend to do this.
However I digress, so when I use SU, I mostly am looking to wrap things up by using SU-LAYOUT, it works for me, I reckon it depends on how good a CAD driver you are, I must be F1 standard, as I can drive it anyway I want.
These SU-LAYOUT plans look no joke to me…

I am really interested in skalp, the functionality looks amazing. I actually went to check out the price to buy it ahead of my current design project but when I saw that they are doing subscription pricing I abandoned that idea. I completely loathe subscription pricing. I really hope that SU will work this into future versions. I think it would be a major selling point for bringing in new architectural users. Sections contain such valuable information but they are very time consuming to create if they have a high level of detail.
When v.2018 was released I understand that the new filled section feature somehow broke Skalp. I wonder if the developers have already found out how to fix it. Edit: As told by Bifterx, it seems they did fix it. I hadn’t followed closely enough.
Hi Anssi. It didn’t break Skalp, they rewrote large portions of it for 2018 compatibility I’ve been using the latest version daily for SU 2018 (because you HAD to upgrade for it to work correctly) without a single issue since release - which was pretty much day 1 for SU 2018. The filled section feature didn’t affect it, or if it did it certainly did not affect my use of it and I use it pretty intensively.
its not subscription pricing - they sent out an email to correct that assumption for existing users. Its the same basis a SketchUp really, Pay once to own it, and pay a small yearly maintenance fee to get the latest version. Whenever I have to pay the maintenance fee - it amazes me that it is so inexpensive , for me Skalp basically unlocks the construction drawing functionality. I used to use ConDoc tools a few years ago but found the output a bit limiting. Skalp allows you have the creativity for drawing presentation, Its a bit quirky but once you get your head round it, you’ll never look back.,
Thank you for clearing that up. I may go ahead and buy it then. You mentioned that it is quirky, do you have a place you would point me for best practices to get it to function well or just look at the tutorials and trial and error?
I mean quirky in you just need to look at the YouTube tuts. The interaction between its pattern designer and main window are clear when you see it illustrated but on first open it was a bit Wtf? That was a couple versions ago it much more streamlined now. Sometimes you have to give a kick to generate changes but that’s about all. Sometimes it’s a little slow with a complex section or the rear projection generation on a complex model but when your realise what its doing behind the scenes, it’s sort of fair enough.p
do yourself a favor and set up a template and workflow so rather use the “by layer” method, much more control on the SKALP output and in your model, the only drawback is the number of layers, but that is something you can decide on
I agree with @bifterx and @Julian_Smith. Skalp takes a little education and trial and error to get a handle of. But once past the initiation phase, great results. I also use “by Layer” exclusively, as I like controlling Skalp output with SU.
The guys at Skalp are good fellows and have always been helpful, I can only assume that they were slightly disheartened when Sketchup introduced section cuts in Su18? I get that, yet they have a lot in Skalp that Sketchup does not do. I will reach out to them via email to see what’s up.
