no need to make multiple posts when you mac crashes.
did mac os crash ? or did sketchup ? did you get a sketchup bugsplat when booting up after that ?
did you try turning off the new engine to see if it crashes in the old one ?
I haven’t made a file bigger than 100mb, come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever been above 60.
150mb isn’t a small file, it’s either a file full of geometry (million and million of lines) or a file with heavy textures.
in both cases, if you don’t share a file, we can’t check it and see if it’s the cause
150 mb is big but beeing a complex project is a good size. I don’t think that should crash when you have purchased sk pro , 64 gm ram and generally a decent pc mac studio 2, is not we are 10 years ago… and the crash happens to close the file only, than if i reopen the file crash again several time until I restart the whole mac. Once it 's running or it open with out issue is also quick to navigate so no problem encountered …
it could be quite reasonably made but contain lots of heavy materials.
it could contain tens of millions of lines and faces.
well again, without having any infos on the file, I can’t tell you if you’re right or not. Because a 50 million lines file would end up crashing on most machines.
all I can tell you for the moment is that indeed, your file is crashing mac os. the rest is uncertain.
