That’s because of the tapered part at the bottom of the pilaster. The dimension is measuring along a slightly skewed line from the upper corner to the inset corner at the bottom. If you fiddle a bit with the cursor while placing the dimension you will see it snap back and forth between the correct value and the slant value depending on whether you pull out directly along the red axis or not.
