Curic Scale++: New Extension with Overlay on SketchUp 2023

If I were to write the Scale tool, I wouldn’t recreate all of the native features. For example, how many users really care about the scaling factor? I have to enter the length units after the scaling factor every time.

You may be right. But omitting the option of factors would have been a missing opportunity.
Maybe priority to lengths … and then f for factor if one would want to use a factor.

I agree, but would use x not f.

And what Curic brings up is a common complaint with the native Scale tool.

This needs to be updated for 2024. It does not install.

Did you try downloading it fresh from the site? It says there that it is compatible with SketchUp 2024.

That was probably at least partially it. I did have an older version. I updated to 1.1.0 and now… nothing. Its not active, i cannot make it active. I cannot uninstall it to re-install it either. I cannot reinstall it on top of itself either. It just hanging there - off.

I probably need to delete the files manually and scrub it before reinstalling. Are there notes on how to do this?

So you copied the old version of the extension from your previous SketchUp version? You can look in the Plugins folder under User/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/… and delete the related files and folders. I don’t know how the licensing is handled for that extension so you might have to hunt around for the license files, too.

I save all my RBZ files in an apps folder for potential future use.
I have the license key so i need to get the extension running to enter the key.

Its also telling my im missing a “RubyEncoder (maybe “RGLoader” or “RGLoader32”)” but only shows instructions for a mac even though im on pc.

Let me get my fredo extensions going and ill get back to that in a sec.

So yes that was the place. I needed to delete both

  • the folder of that plugin
  • the .rb file in that root “plugin” folder itself. It will be a file below the folders.

then re-install it as new, add license creds afterwards

  • it works

Im down to 4 plugin that dont work out of a ton. Im actually pretty happy with things out of the box so far.
Thanks for the folder path!

@voquochai is there anyway to change the direction of the scale using the resize LenX prompt? I know I can use the grips but this then defaults back to scale percentage.

You can use the opposite grip and type XXXXmm and it will scale in that direction. Adding an option to flip the arrow would add one click and subtract two key strokes.

That works, Many thanks for the tip.

This extension does not disable or uninstall when using the extension manager. Clicking the button (either) has the button showing the action successful but re-opening the extension manager simply shows it to be still active and running. Restarting SKP shows it to remain active as well.

Presumably, from the other thread about SKP constantly crashing, I’m assuming it’s here with this plugin.
