Closing complex non-solid model

I did pay attention to what you wrote. There seem to be 2 conversations going on at once.

My problem is not getting it into a slicer. I can do that. And I can print it just fine, warts and all. There are some problems with the model that make the print not optimal, and I really need to modify the model, for example to add a cavity in the back.

I can’t configure the .skb model in any way that makes it manageable to edit in SketchUp. I can already print it and scale it - i need to edit it, and I can’t in it’s present form. I was hoping having it be a solid would allow me to subtract the cylinder from the model, but that, too us taking hours and hours and may not finish.

So, after all that, I have a SketchUp model that is too complex to edit practically. The model will export to a .stl and print, with a few problems, but nothing a game-stopper. I need a way to modify the model - either some tool that will simplify it, or some way to impose a change to the exported object - Sketchup can create the .stl, something else can import it and punch a dent in the back for me, export it to a .stl, and Bob’s your uncle, we’re done.

Sorry if I’ve created any confusion.

Help?

My point of directing you to model at the larger size was to avoid the holes you are ending up with in your small object. There’s no need to have the model at its real-world diimensions.

Do you mean .stl file. The .skb file is the SketchUp backup file.

As I wrote yesterday, the original .stl file is just too overly detailed for SketchUp.

I just showed you that the model is also editable in SketchUp (I made it like this). Just read the post and click the arrow to play the video.

I did mean the .skp.

the single face on the bottom helps a lot. I think I can work with this.

Thanks to all for helping me through this.
