Here’s another aspect of UpFront output that I forgot about: Adobe Illustrator (i.e. vectored graphic)
Vectored output from SketchUp is just the lines while all the colors are raster. This produced filled polygons 3d->2d.

You can get filled polygons from LayOut, though not for shadow volumes.
Actually, I see I experimented with vectored output to Illustrator, and can’t remember now what the workflow was at the time. Looks like via PDF.
I love the vector shadows. From the applications I know, only Archicad can output them today. It can also replace textures with vector hatching in vectorial views. It has its own (slowish) software render system for these views (OpenGL obviously doesn’t support them)
