Best Beginner Tips for Reliable First Prints?

I am fairly new to 3D printing and still trying to dial in consistent results. Some prints come out great, others fail for reasons I can’t quite figure out.If anyone has suggestions for basic settings, common mistakes to avoid, or general tips that helped you when starting out, I’d really appreciate it.

first tip would be to train with your 3d printer using models that are already working : there are plenty models out there ready to print (printable, makerworld…) tested and tried, and they’re great because you can learn the 3d part of the equation.

as for the sketchup part, best would be for you to share a skp file you printed (or tried to) and a photo of the result, so we can point at stuff.

the basic idea is that in sketchup, you need solid groups and/or components. the rest won’t print (well)

Your profile says you are using SketchUp 2018 so presumably you aren’t a beginner at using SketchUp, right?

As @ateliernab suggested, share a SketchUp model file that is troublesome so we can see what you’ve got and give you some hints on how to improve it.
