Bravo
Way to go. It does look like the initial loop that you used for the circular array was not quite vertical or the center of rotation you chose was not in the same plane as the loop, hence the spiral where the spines meet in the center. Still, nice job.
Two problems here… as said so bad with geometry, and secondly… always in a rush to see the end product instead of taking my time, and as a result not having things quite as perfect as I would like, but oh it’s just so much fun!!! THANK YOU all for your help as always.
endlessfix, Good eyes I had to zoom into see. I think maybe the “hoops” overlap the center of rotation a little bit….
They do. And that’s something I will have to work on. A little history on moi. I do renders for Special Events - (semi-retired) They are visuals so don’t have to be perfect like architectual drawings. BUT… that being said, I do aim to be perfect. Since I don’t use SU as often as I would like and spend most of my time in Photoshop, I am not as proficient as I could be. I try to get as much practice time as I can in, but with a family, a home, assistant zumba instructor and 9 cats to look after (6 feral neighbourhood kitties) there are not enough hours in the day to do everything I would like to do. SU being one. I absolutely do appreciate all the help AND critique that I can get and when it is pointed out to me that something can be done better, and more than likely in a better way, I am always open to improving. So… hee hee - back to the drawing board to see if I can fix that twist. Can I at least have a B+ please?
You get an A+ for effort and determination!!
Here’s my quickie version just to reiterate what @endlessfix showed you above, use the axes of the model to control the shape and rotation point.
The ‘oval’ is draw on the red axis and the origin is the centre of rotation. I also show how I use the pie tool to draw the profile perpendicular to the path.
By the way, I haven’t gone to any trouble with the shape, just a rough ‘oval’.
Wow… Looking at you folk I get so demoralised. You are all so good. How much time do you all spend using SketchUp? Something to aspire to however. Thank you. Saving the video as even though you have done it at just the right speed, I will slow it down even further and then follow along. Takes a minute (? ) sometimes for that penny to drop with me. Thank you! Have a super weekend.
