I need to create very detailed/accurate 3d terrain for a few properties in a rural region without high res coverage. I have modeled a property manually in the past by measuring specific elevations with a transit, and there has to be a more efficient method, but geolocation and google earth topography are not very accurate in the areas I need. Is a 3d camera the best option? is there another method I’m missing? I’d rather not be doing everything manually if there is a more efficient way to upload granular terrain detail.
You might be able to find higher resolution LIDAR data from your local GIS source. The county I live in has some of that available.
FWIW, SketchUp hasn’t used Google Earth terrain data for years.
