Stockpile modeling

Hi Everyone,

I am currently using sketchup to model large storage buildings, they unique in design so not rectangles. and been asked by a client to calculate the volume of loose material stored as a stock pile with natural angle of repose, is there a way to do this in sketch up with extensions without push/pulling the building shape and them taking chunks out with angled rectangles? Loosing my sanity trying to figure it out.

Cheers

3D laser scanning usually is easier tool for such task.

Or, something like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHtBq8E_N2w - but will not be accurate without good measurements.

Hi Thanks for your reply,

i am working of theoretical buildings, these are going in for planning applications and visualisations for the customer before we build it they want to know a rough estimate of how much a building can store and the alter the deign to hold what the need
