Just an observation, not sure if it’s intentional, but when using the ambient occlusion effect in Sketchup 24 some (not all) of smoothed softened edges show an ambient occlusion effect that looks weird:
You can see in these cylinder shapes that the smoothed soften edges show the effect. Seems this doesn’t appear visible on “surface” faces in the light, only seems to be an areas not exposed to direct light, whether shadows are on or off.
Makes what would normally be one smooth surface look segmented into planes. Even setting the distance/intensity to 0, it’s still slightly visible and at distance 100 it’s mostly blurred out, but still there if you look closely.
