Site Planning in Minutes : AI again

If you are involved with site planning and feasibility studies for architecture you might want to review this video. Again an example of AI in architecture

I have done this work for many years and the speed and detail which this software returns results is a quantum jump in capability. Up till now I have used extensively Modelur extension for SketchUp.

It puts into stark perspective the glacial progression of SketchUp.

I think I retired just at the right time !

Undeniably powerful parametric work, but I feel like any design created by a set of rules is best described as being designed by a “hack” – “a writer or journalist producing dull, unoriginal work”

Might wanna consider to check after you’ve retired:)

True, but it becomes a benchmark framework for a creative design overlay. These are the bones with a degree of confidence that the design can walk or run, What they wear is the next step…

PS. Of course ! - the client will also have access to this software and will either bypass you or verify your work against what this software is suggesting… so be prepared for that brave new world !

I ask myself frequently…‘what can I do (work-wise) if the power went out?’…as cool as Lumion or V-Ray are for example, can I sketch and watercolor a cool perspective? As powerful as Revit’s BIM tools or Rhino’s Grasshopper is…can I still get my scale out and work out site plans to run some quick numbers on?..These ‘platforms’ are all so cool but they lock you not only into software but ‘their’ cloud-based software that if something were to happen - like they go out of business or something, it’s going to be good to know how to do it another, call it ‘old school’ way.
