Replacing Components in Free Version

I know you can use “Replace Selected” to swap one component for another in the Pro version.

Is there a way of doing this in the Free version?

Cheers

Not directly in the same way you can do it in the desktop versions.

How do you do it in the Free version?

I’ve been playing around with this, trying to find a workaround. This is what I’ve come up with:

  • existing component - activate “Edit Component”
  • delete all entities within that component
  • insert replacement component into existing one

This has the desired effect, but is it the best way? Are there any better alternatives?

Cheers

Yes, I think this is a good alternative for the ‘missing feature’
If you create a ‘proxy’ or dummy component (‘I want big chairs in my dining room!’) named ‘big chair’ , which has only a few faces or boxes in it, you need not to worry about little details or decide which manufacturers model it is gonna be in the end.

This concept of ‘double wrapping’ can be applied to more basic modeling techniques, as well.
For instance, when you don’t have decided how large the holes need to be for pegs in woodworking, the breakthrough in the beam for the sprinklersystem, the type of window or door etc etc
