I have an object consisting of two parts. These parts are connected with curve edge. I need to cut out these parts from metal sheets, bend them and weld along the curve.
Can I make plain patterns for the sheets using Sketchup?
Yes. You can do that sort of thing with an extension like Eneroth Unfold Tool, Eneroth Unroll Surface, or Unwrap and Flatten. All of these are available in the Extension Warehouse.
If you model at a larger scale (as if millimeters or inches are meters, you can use larger numbers of segments in the curves which will result in better, smoother patterns.
