PBR Materials Archive

I have been creating several PBR materials that I would like to use across several models. I have downloaded the associated Normal, AO, Roughness files etc for each material into their own folder and then created the material using those files.

This is fine and allows me to standardize the materials across projects. These are all mainly different types of metals, Steel, Aluminum, Brass, etc. The problem is that for every new project I need to create a new material and attach all the files, along with manually changing their settings.

Is there a way where I can export or save a finished material to a location and then import it into another model?

I know this probably has a “Duh!” solution, and I apologize ahead of time.

Thanks

I’m running SketchUp 2025 on a Mac Studio running Sequoia.

Paint your materials onto squares, save file to an easy, known location.
Import this file into new projects.

Save materials in a template you use when you start (this is what I do). I also have my styles, scenes, etc. all ready to go.

Google save sketchup materials to collection

Thanks! That’s exactly what I just did. I was worried that the original pbr files (normal, roughness, etc) would have to be linked to the material, but I guess that information is simply embedded in the material itself and once created the files aren’t needed anymore.

Much appreciated.
