New UX guidelines available for extension developers

Extensibility UX guidelines have arrived. Why did we create these guidelines? We wanted to help developers — like you — design extensions that closely align with the SketchUp brand and provide an improved, unified experience for an end-user. These guidelines aren’t intended to create more work on your end, but to help speed up your development process — and make it easier!

Once you give the guidelines a read, you may choose to ignore some of the tips that aren’t relevant to you — and that’s okay! For example, in a technically complex extension, you may want to use language slightly different than that of the SketchUp brand. Before you choose to go a certain direction, familiarize yourself with the guidelines and then ask yourself “why” if you choose to ignore them.

Read the full guidelines here.

As always, reach out if you have any questions.
