Modeling for 3D Printing - LIVE!

If you had a 3-D printer, what is a useful household item you would design and print?

That’s the question that @TheOnlyAaron and Ashley are asking this week as they jump into SketchUp to design useful prints, making sure to design in SketchUp specific for exporting for 3D prints.

Have a printer? Come learn how to unlock it’s potential using SketchUp this Friday at 12pm MST on YouTube, LinkedIn, or Facebook

For real, though, what do you think we should model for the printer? Give us ideas of household items that we could mode, live! If we use your idea, we will give you a shout out on the stream!

(also, neither a Shelby Cobra nor Notre Dame are household, printable items, so don’t even ask).

Hi Aaron, just seen your request for suggestions, how about something that includes curves and hinges like for instance Lemon/Lime Squeezer

or even a Glass Citrus Squeezer both of which could be modelled relatively quickly and easily in the time, explaining the process for creating a model that will/can be 3D printed.

Both have equally interesting features like curves, ribs and sticky up bits and they are healthy for you, and an opportunity to show off materials.

 No guides needed!!!

Cheers

Pat (from the UK)

Just designed this in SU and printed it on my Bambu H2D.

I recently modeled a chess set designed by another architect member of AIA/Connecticut and now got to 3D print it, but I don’t have permission from him yet to show it off.
