Is Sketchup Make 2016 really freeware?

So if I wasn’t able to get a budget, I could still do SketchUp 8. Though it would be like teaching someone how to drive a car in a '68 Judge when they own a 2016 Prius.

Perhaps. But you would likely need to leave out using the Extension Warehouse out of the curriculum. (It never was integrated into v8. It came out for v2013.)

You’d also need to fix the 3D Warehouse redirect issue.

The machines also need to have MS Internet Explorer 10 installed. (Some of the Google APIs used by native web-dialogs require it now.)
