I need to do the following:
when hovering the mouse over the component it gets a certain color, that is, when walking under the faces it goes showing the color

Not sure if you’re trying to do within SketchUp native functions?
If yes I personally feel may not be possible, but one thing you can change for selected entity is via Style the last chapter there’s a ‘selected’, by changing that color you can have any color you like.
But if you’re really talking about when mouse cursor temporarily hover on an entity it display your ideal color, that’s something via Ruby API in view observer.
