Help please on laptop & SketchUp issue

Hi and THANK YOU for the add! This will be a huge help as I’m still learning SketchUp.
Need to either upgrade current laptop or potentially buy new (used) from either OSW or Mac of All Trades. Would truly appreciate advice, ideas, experience :slight_smile: THANKS!

Software used daily (visual editor, photographer, etc.):

  • SketchUp (free version)
  • Photoshop
  • MS Word & Excel
  • (sometimes) Sony Soundbooth

Current model:

  • MacBook Pro 15"
  • Mid 2014
  • 256 SSD
  • 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
  • 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

So far it has served me well. The battery needs replacing and while getting that done I’m wondering if the Graphics Card and SSD should be upgraded? Or would you buy a refurb? The refurb’s from Apple have now gone above what I can afford (single parent budget).

Any suggestions, ideas very much appreciated!

There is no graphics card. Your graphics are integrated into the iCore7 CPU. OS upgrading means a new motherboard, which means a new notebook likely.

The SSD could be upgraded.
