Getting 503 when trying to sign extension

Hi everyone,

Recently I’ve been trying to sign an extension I’m working on on the extension warehouse and I keep getting an error on this step:

Is this something that is wrong from my side? The extension is pretty big ~390MB. But I was able to sign it just 2 weeks ago.

ping @CraigTrickett

My bookmark is still to the older signing portal:

Have you tried this URL?

Apparently SketchUp Web pages / Help Center are being overhauled and are in a state of flux.

In my last software job, you’d get fired for going public-facing live with a site that hadn’t gone through sufficient offline testing and the released version had errors like this.

SketchUp Extension Warehouse is exactly the portal I had in my bookmarks as well - is there a newer version?

It’s a bit unfortunate that this is the only avenue for signing, at least one that I am aware of…

We do not know … we speculate because of the URL you posted above.

Ohh, no no this is just the HTTPS request that keeps failing with 503 Service Unavailable. I am using the same link (SketchUp Extension Warehouse) to access the signing service.

It is quite unfortunate that it has been a couple of days but the signing service is still broken for me, reached out to developer-support@sketchup.com, hopefully they will also help to resolve this issue!

Thanks for your help!

I am getting that same error too. I can still sign smaller extensions, but not my larger extension (Which I was able to sign a couple of weeks ago.)

I am trying to pare it down to see if it’s simply a size issue where maybe the size needs to be under 256 MB.

ping @CraigTrickett … again

Yep, I’ve downloaded one of my older extensions (8.3KB) and successfully signed it, so the issue seems to be the big sizes. Mine is around 400MB…

@CraigTrickett sorry to ping again, would it be possible to get your eye on this?

I was finally able to get my extension signed by removing enough files to get the size of the RBZ file down to 141 MB (It was 268 MB).

It meant losing some features but we are trying to get a signed extension we can submit for approval for the extension warehouse.

A 503 response usually means the server is temporarily unavailable if the exact same extension was signing successfully a couple of weeks ago, so it means the issue with the Extension Warehouse signing service rather than something on your side or if the package size has increased recently its possible youre hitting a timeout or size related limitation during the signing process.
you can get help from it
