The ‘section’ tool creates a section plane that cuts your model/object/geometry or whatever, i.e. providing you with a section cut.
Right click on the plane and select ‘Create Group from Slice’.
You could then copy all > explode both slice groups and start deleting all on one side and in the copy all on the other side.
This applies only to basic geometry in the same context of the exploded slice groups.
