I am sure this has been covered before, but I am drawing some ornamental designs to be cut. The plasma guy wants me to get rid of the line segments on the arc to make everything smooth, which I agree with. I just don’t know how to do it. I can increase line segments, but I still don’t have a smooth radius for the cnc table. Thanks!
I believe that if you export your SU model as 3D DWG, then arcs and circles are exported as true circles. Just check that the arcs haven’t been modified to curves, or even loose edges. If they have, try the plugin LinesToArc, which can convert them back to arcs.
I haven’t tried this myself, but I’ve seen multiple references to that behaviour on this forum.
Try it and see if it works for you.
I have been exporting a 2d .dwg and the arcs stay the same. I will try the plug-in and see what happens!
Why don’t you try what John suggested and export a 3D .dwg?
Here’s a video that we shared on this workflow (exporting a 3D DWG for true curves): [Skill Builder] Exporting 2D curves
Link expired, but I’d be interesting to see it if you can re-post.
Thanks!
The link just works fine for me in Chrome browser.
Here is a video where Aaron explains the technique that he learned from watching Eric’s presentation:
Forgot to delete the face first thanks!
Deleting the surface of the model before export of true curves is not necessary, in export options only have edges checked on.
Hope this one comes through!
