A mounting bracket for a new WIFI antenna for the caravan…
When I sit down, the smooth pencil always falls out of my pocket on my work pants. A paper clip, some superglue and a small 3D printed part now remedies this…
The existing magnet on the weekly planner was too weak for the whiteboard, now there are two magnets per corner and it holds…
The multiple plug needed a (decent) place and from the floor the cables are too short, now it disappeared behind the dresser (with the help of some powerstrips) …
The finger brush was always lying around somewhere and you had to look for it, now it has its place (with drip channel)…
The stainless steel wine glasses in the caravan were always flying around, now they have a place on the wall of the compartment…
One corner of the clothes rack broke off and the fold-out part is no longer usable. Tracing a photo and constructing a reinforcement as an external support fixed the problem and the stand is still usable in the future.
(The question is why such a thin plastic part is used at all in such a mechanically stressed place, it is presumably not supposed to last long?!)
Cheap to manufacture, higher profit margin, high replacement rate. $$$
planned obsolescence for sure!!
Sometimes the stack of paper is too thick for the hole punch, with this template you can then drill holes at the appropriate distance with the drill…
Great projects @Cotty ! Somehow I overlooked this topic until now.
I don’t know anybody else who really uses their 3d printer in a useful way like you do so big .
My first thought was that it was a template for drilling holes for handles on drawer fronts!
You can buy those at home Depot or Lowes for around $10 and they are typically multi-size. I guess you could buy one and then create a SU file and then 3D print it, but that seems like a lot of work??
True, but way more fun!
Just checked the 3D warehouse and was surprised to not find a template. I have one and might see if I can scan it or draw it in SU. Will keep you posted
You’re welcome to, but I don’t really need one…
I needed 3g of filament for about 9 ct for this print. But that’s not the main reason for me, I have fun thinking up exactly fitting models and drawing them with SketchUp (that’s why I practically never search online repositories like Thingiverse for ready-made models, even if there was one, I would still draw it myself). A template for multiple sizes would certainly be helpful sometimes, but I only ever need exactly that one size, so I only drew that one. The model creation of this one was finished in a few minutes, so I don’t see much effort here either and rather benefit from the fun of modeling.
I think @mballes was refering to the “drawerhandle template” I first thought it was…
I saw this modified tic-tac-toe game somewhere (you can cover smaller pieces with larger ones) and had to reprint it right away, it’s more fun than the original…
Never seen this before. Indeed it seems more fun than the original!!
