Cant do anything with SketchUp

Very interesting conversation. I would use the violin to strangle the cat.

I don’t know anything about Jack Murdock’s background, but each and every one of the things that he says he can’t do, I have done. If I ever had a serious problem…there’s always DCB with Super Dave. I didn’t notice the gopher anywhere on this thread

The one thing that is paramount to working with SU is the concept of components. Once you master components and get your hand to eye coordination working right, you can work miracles with Sketchup (SU).

Try a right to left select and see what you get. I’ll bet it’s different from the left to right select. Move is a simple M and start to drag; add the option key (I work on Mac) and you’ve got copy. Make a copy and type *4 and you now have 4 copies. What’s the problem.

I was always taught that a good workman never blames his tools.
Maybe you want to consider that Jack.

But then I never make mistrakes.

I’m not the most computer literate person, and I am a novice with SU… I can get it to do all the things you are describing. But it took a little practice. It just sounds like you are expecting to be able to use it instantly without putting in enough time to learn the skills. Practice and patience are needed with this (maybe more so if you are used to using another package). You also mention several other kinds of software that you find very useful for the work you are doing. If they work and you haven’t got time to learn how to make SU work, why not just stick with the others?

The best answer I have ever ever seen

Well said, Sir!

Could we put this thread to rest please. If the OP comes back we can help him with his issues, but otherwise it is little more than an embarrassment to Jack.

This is a joke, right?
