1970 Porsche 917 full detail

please- stop this useless discussion about Flat or V or whatever.

The Porsche 911 Engine is a Boxer Engine - 180° Bank angle → called Flat 6

The Porsche 917 (right code is 912) Engine is a V-12 Engine with 180° Bank angle → called Flat 12

Both engine have the same bank angle, you call all of them FLAT (this describes the bank angle only) - but they are totally different in terms of how the pistons mount on the crank shaft. On a flat Boxer engine each cylinder use it’s own bearing journal - On a V-Engine oposite cylinder share a bearing journal, and when you open the bank angle upto 180° it is still a V-Engine.
