When I try to install SketchUp I get The following error:
I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit.
The behavior you are seeing could be due to a Window defect. Please see MS14-049: Description of the security update for Windows Installer Service: August 12, 2014 and install the update as suggested in the link. Let us know the outcome.
I would try and delete the exe file, download and try again, possibly there was an error in first download
