I’ve been using sketchup heavily since 2010. It help me get and keep a job when the economy began to pickup.
I have gone from no organization to a high level of organization in my models.
I’m still basically a cheap skate when it comes to using sketchup. I have no problem paying a modest amount for a good tool but balk at paying hundreds of dollars a year to use a tool. I got caught in that trap with auto desk, and not interested in repeating it.

That being said you get what you pay for.

I’m in a Architectural practice, and we love to create and present our design in 3D.

We are working at moving away from Autocad 2D production to a total 3D production using Sketchup and Layout. It has been going alright until it gets to the more detailed drawings, then we tend to fall back to 2D CAD. We run very robust systems with a large 4K monitor and a smaller HD, monitor., driven by good but not bleeding edge video cards.

I’ve been using Computers in my practice since 1983, and appreciate good software.
