Is there a plugin that supports curves?

For 2D toolpaths (CNC router,plasma,laser,water jet…) SketchUp can output true arcs in the .dwg and.dxf formats. Although as a surface modeler SketchUp represents all geometry as lines or collections of lines, for arcs and circles it does store the underlying radius info in the metadata and that can be accessed to export mathematically correct arcs. Can sketch up output smooth cylinders and radiuses for CNC?

There is a method for outputting true circles and arcs in 2D for interpretation by a CNC router or plasma cutter or other sheet goods manufacture process. There is not a method for exporting curves in 3D data. If you are “carving” in 3 dimensions then the method would be as described above, increase the number of circle sides until the facets are not noticeable.

When will we finally get true arcs & circles?

If you are just outputting toolpaths of a CNC table in 2D you can output true curves. I do it all the time. Set the camera to PP, set the view to TOP, export 3D, choose dwg, in the options set the checkboxes to export only edges, export. The resulting file will be a 2D dwg with true curves. Search the forum, I’m on my phone now but we have discussed this many times here and you should be able to find detailed instructions.
