Zooming problems in 2025

Is anyone out there having problems in Pro 2025 zooming in and out when in a tool, such a drawing, moving, push-pull, etc..
When simply viewing a model, I can zoom in an out normally. But if I want to draw a line from a precise point to another precise point, zooming in for a precise pick, is really, really slow. Same zooming out and back in takes real patience. Once out of the command, I can move around the model with ease.
This is a new, and very vexing problem for me in version 2025.

I can’t say I’ve seen this especially different with 2025, but have over many versions seen this with large complex models. Do you see this with even simple models?

I use a 3D Spacemouse, and one trick with that is to move the cursor off the drawing window while navigating with the 3DSM until you reach the view you want, then stop navigating and bring the cursor back over your work. It keeps SketchUp from constantly searching for every possible auto-snap while all you’re trying to do is navigate to a different point of view.

This happens to me with the simplest models. I’ve never encountered it in previous versions. Not only is it difficult to zoom in and out, but there is also some sort of buffering problem that causes a delay in snapping to a point. The result is that it takes forever to do precise work, and the buffering issue causes inadvertent placement of line endpoints. In other words, I try to wait and make certain the cursor is on the right spot, but if I click to soon it can move slightly off the point I want. I’m currently working on a model of a screened porch, and I’ve never made so many tiny errors in a model before.

Hmm. Sounds like the system is overwhelmed even with a simple model? I’m a Mac guy, not Windows guy, but maybe a Windows person could comment. First suspect is usually the video card, but who knows? I don’t know what to make of an Intel UHD Graphics 630.

What graphics engine are you using, according to the hardware requirements on the sketchup’s website, the only unsupported gpus on windows are Intel HD 4x00 series, your gpu is an integrated one from 2017, it may be compatible but it’s not the best option for any 3D software.

Also I’ve seen “small” models like a small house that are 100mb, the main cause is almost always the 3DWH, some people download models directly into their main file without checking how much it weights, I’ve seen beds, plants, sofas and even curtains that weight above 35mb you put a couple of those models in a small house and you get a laggy file.

If the OP’s profile is up to date they are using an integrated graphics card that was first released in 2017.

The UHD Graphics 630 is an integrated graphics solution by Intel, launched on September 1st, 2017. Built on the 14 nm+++ process, and based on the Coffee Lake GT2 graphics processor, the device supports DirectX 12

On Windows SKP recommends a dedicated GPU:

  • A modern GPU with at least 8GB VRAM. SketchUp’s classic renderer requires OpenGL 3.1 support. SketchUp’s performance relies on your graphics card driver and its ability to support OpenGL 3.1 or higher.
  • A modern GPU with at least 32GB of VRAM when interacting with models utilizing materials with Physically Based Rendering texture maps, Ambient Occlusion, and Image Based Lighting.

My problem has been solved by a nearby lighting strike that caused a brief power outage. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to reboot the computer, but that’s what I was forced to do. I think this more a computer/Windows issue, especially the buffering problem. It can be especially bad with Excel spreadsheets. The best, and ultimate solution is to reboot the computer. What’s going on in that little brain of the computer is far to complex to fathom, so just start a new day, and everything is fine.
