X-ray like component pieces

When I zoom out in Sketchup the piece behind the toe kick starts to appear, but when I zoom in it goes back to normal. I checked to see if the pieces were overlapping and there’s actually a 0.058” gap in between the two pieces; all items are painted with a solid material. What would be causing this?

It’s the usual bleed throughdue to the graphics algorithm. When the faces are very close to the edges behind (relative to the camera to model distance) the edges will bleed through. You 0.058 in. gap is almost zero relative to the distance between the camera and the model. The soution is to either hide the edges of the objects behind the face or to apply tags to the objects behind and turn off those tags so the objects aren’t shown.

Note that you are using Parallel Projection in your view. In those, the camera can be very far from the object without you noticing, but the bleed through effects will appear. Switching to Perspective and then back again might help a little.

I switched to perspective and it still is doing the same thing.

I tried hiding the edges of the item behind and still no luck. Unfortunately creating a tag and hiding it isn’t an option.

I can’t tell anything from your tiny little screenshot. Share the model.

Why isn’t creating a tag an option?

It will allow me to create a tag, but I need to show this piece for the project I’m working on.

Split the object into sub-assemblies and tag those objects spearately. Or don’t zoom out so far.

You could set up scenes with each showing just one of these things. Then in LayOut place viewports for each scene next to each other on the page.
