Windows 7 0xc000007b error on startup

Hi,

I just downloaded and installed SketchUp 2015 but I can’t get it to run. When I try to run it I get:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

When I hit “OK” naturally it just closes and nothing else happens.

I am running on:
Windows 7 64 bit
NVidia GeForce GTX 770

Have you tried to reinstall it?

Be sure you are all updated from Windows Update, SP1 etc.

SU 2015 needs dotNET 4 up to date as well.

The other thing I’d ask is did you Run the installer with elevated privileges ?

See the instructions here:

I reinstalled as Administrator and now it works fine.

Thanks for the help!

By default windows 7 does not expose the buit-in administrator user at the log on screen it is a hidden elevated administrator account that has full unrestricted access rights and permissions on the computer. The one you see exposed on the log in screen is an un-elevated administer account that is created by default during the installation of windows 7.
See this link on how to expose it if you need it but you should not.

Yes, these days, the right-click “Run As Administrator” pattern is much safer.

But the information about the logon is also interesting.
