Window frames of all windows at once. Connected, diagonal, curved

I would really like to add window frames to all the windows in the building at once. But I have some problems.

  1. the first problem is that the window frame between two glass panes will get a double frame.
  2. The second problem is how to fix the diagonal connected windows.
  3. Third problem are the curved windows and window frames.
  4. 4th problem is materialisation: glass panes with other colour window frames.

Extension and tools I currently use/tried:

  1. Normal offset
  2. SJ frame generator
  3. Tools on Surface
  4. JointPushPull
  5. Curviloft or ‘push line’ extension to make the curved faces

Materials: When i use SJ frame generator, it makes all the frames groups, this works really well with materialisation.

In the end, the tool I need is an offset tool at all faces at once (ignoring smooth lines) which halves the offset between two faces. The created faces should be groups or at least be separated from the first existing faces.

Or maybe a different method which works.

Current model: These are all windows i would like to make the window frames. The outer edges of the current faces are will be the outer edge of the windows frames

What i want, all at once:

Extension SJ Frame Generator: gives me double the frame with in between two windows. Curved windows has double with and gaps.

Extension Tools on surface: works with curved faces, but still doesnt give me the inner frames.

You already seem to have a pretty clear idea of how the tool should work. Have you considered turning that idea into your own plugin with AI?

In SketchUp, if you received a file with only raw geometry (like in your example) and you want to quickly make some frames for all the windows at once, you can do it in two steps, the first for the windows in general, and the second for the curved windows.

There is also the option to make them in Blender and then import them into SketchUp as an OBJ file.

This way is how i’m currently doing it. But it’s not the awnser. You still have to click all the surfaces one at a time. Also there is double thickness in the vertical frames.

Not necessarily.

And for width of the mullions, try s4u Frame.

Considering that these are windows with identical shape and size that repeat, you could use an extension to group the geometry into separate objects, and then transform the identical ones into components, and then you only have to edit one component and all the other identical ones will change automatically.
