Why is this G not solid?

I really can’t figure out why this G is not solid. Solid inspector is always pointing to external faces, the problem is there but for me this is solid… How can I make this G solid without removing this external face? How can I fix it? Thank you!

In SketchUp it is called Solid Group. And the word ‘Group’ should answer your question. And you need to add thickness to one of the faces.

The bottom of the G is a single face,

Therefore its not a solid because it touches some side faces to share their edges, and in a solid every edge must support exactly 2 faces - no more, no fewer - not 3 or more.

If you group the geometry SolidInspector highlights that face as the issue and can fix it by erasing it. However, if you want a ’floor’ in your G you need to model a 3d form with a top and bottom face. Using PushPull will leave internal faces within the G but SolidInspector will also fix those for you. Also note how there are several coplanar edges on the faces of its bottom, these don’t affect its solidity, but erasing those will help keep it a neat solid too…

It’s the same issue which was addressed in your previous thread with the little stand.

Man, I think you bring some lucky with you when you reply to my threads. I was trying to solve it the same way I did with my little stand and couldn’t fix it. After reading your reply, boom, solved again. G is now solid. Funny moment!
