Why is there no replace/swap definition in SketchUp Web?

This seems like an insanely trivial feature to add from Desktop! I have all of my components laid out for a given length (e.g. siding) then I want to be able to copy those instances since they include information about the rotation, and then swap them out for ONE that I make unique and then adjust the length of ALL of the swapped components. Absolutely impossible now!

I don’t quite follow, are you wanting to be able to swap dynamic components?

Welcome to Web == to Pro.

I agree Select Instances and Replace Selected are very useful features in the desktop version. It would be nice if they were included in the web version.

He wants to do this
replace_selected

Exactly!! This feature has been in Desktop/Pro for over a decade and would be TRIVIAL to implement in Web.

Ahhhhh. I forgot that even existed.

There are probably 1000 things that would be ‘trivial’ to implement in Web…

@dezmo or @DaveR does that exist in Go / iPad?

No. Select Instances and Replace Selected are not currently available in SketchUp Go (browser based). Not sure about SketchUp for iPad.

I don’t know how trivial it would be to add but it would be useful if the options were added to the component menu.

 Possible workaround:

replace_selected_web_wa

I tried to do this and the specific order is hard to follow. I’ll give it another try next time I encounter this. Thanks!

I guess that works but it’s a lot more steps.

Sure, but that’s why it’s a workaround, the desktop version is light years better.

2nd version of my workaround:
replace_selected_web_wa2

…and there’s no right click → “Reload” either, is there?
