What makes the file slugish/heavier. Entities or Instances?

Iam using this plugin to detect the heaviest file and there are 2 ways to sort them.

Entity count (edges and faces), texture size, number of instances.

In addition to that extension, use Material Resizer to see the size of texture images and Statistics Probe (from SCF) to see entity count in the objects.

Sluggishness can also be caused by the choice of style and whether or not you have edges displayed that could/should be hidden or softened.

yes.

It’s the last column, total, that matters.
making copies of a component almost doesn’t raise the weight of the file but can make it slower.

Say you have one chair, 1 million entities. well that’s big.
but 1000 copies of a 1000 entities chair will result as 1M entities total as well. and even though it won’t weigh on your file (in terms of mb), whenever you zoom and orbit, your computer will calculate the position of the 1M entities.

a single group with 20 000 entities will not have as much impact as 300 groups with 100 entities.
if you sort by total, you’ll see 20 000 vs 30 000

but then again, considering the number of copies (300), it’s quite normal.
compare a book to a single sheet of paper. sure, the single sheet is lighter, now give me 500 sheets, the book will be lighter.
