What is a good source for painted brick textures in various colors?

Hi,

I’m an architect designing some affordable housing and plan to use painted brick . . . for several reasons: First, if cracks or other damage occur, it’s easy to patch and cover up. And second, one can go to a brickyard and buy the material they can’t sell; the brick’s original color makes no difference. Also, we can easily give the dwellings different hues, another way of breaking up the repetition of the same old.

I’m using Sketchup Pro and Enscape for the models. If anyone can point me to some good collections of painted brick textures, I’d be very grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Ed in Brooklyn

I’d by looking for a suitable brick texture in the 3D Warehouse. You could also look at SketchUpTextureClub or others. I wouldn’t worry about the color, though. You can always edit the material in an image editor to make it the color you want. That also allows you to use the same brick texture for multiple projects and just change the color as needed.

What version of SketchUp Pro? Still using Mac OSX 10.9.5 and that old Radeon GPU?

Architextures Extension

I’m not sure if an Enscape license gives you access to to chaos cosmos, there a pretty good textures there.

Download adobe substance player

https://helpx.adobe.com/substance-3d-player/desktop/home.html

then go and grab some of the sbsar based brick pattens from ambientCG

For example :

, this will give you the ability to customise various aspects of the bricks they have via sliders, you can export the images used for sketchup enscape via that

Adobe community files also have these files too

But if you are using painted brick and want to show that in enscape- that’s really easy. Use any brick pattern , either built in or imported, bake sure you have either a bump, normal or displacement map applied.

Then give the brick the solid Color you want in the diffuse/albedo slot.

Adjust the roughness slider to get the correct level of sheen. Boom.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I’m working on the process now. Again, thanks for taking the time to educate me. Ed

Thanks!
