What about a push and pull feature to the vertices

Using push pull much like the follow me tool to easily pull or push objects to its edge to easily make Cones or stretch objects to an oblong 3d mesh. You can have an option that says push pull or push pull to edge so the pull following the selected object.

Secondly could create separate objects hovering over another and use the push pull to edge to snap be it concave or explode to the edge its being dragged to. It’d be easier to design shoes or more complex curvature
