Hi. I am Bruce.

I am a hobbyist using SketchUp for some simple things like a base for a single-board-computer.

I like to work with electronics such as microcontrollers, analog electornics, and computers.

I have just started using SketchUp.but would like to make a 3D model for a sci-fi looking synth.

Hi everyone,

I’m Chris from Commerce Township, Michigan (Northwest of Detroit).

I am a SketchUp enthusiast; I’ve been addicted since SketchUp 6 . I would consider myself intermediate, hoping to move to advanced.

I use SketchUp in school and professionally. I started out doing models for fun; mostly thinks like my room, odd buildings, etc.

I currently use a Lenovo Flex 2 laptop with 8GB RAM, and a i7 processor. It works OK for most models. I haven’t dabbled in rendering yet, but that’s efinitely on the to-do list.

Chris

Sorry about the delay. Life can be crazy sometimes. I appreciate the answer to the 3DW question, and i will be adding some of my own as soon as i figure out how to make components say “me” instead of “unknown” as the creator.

And yes, I can survive the 4 minutes, but that isn’t where it came from…

Who am I? I don’t do selfies and don’t have a smartphone. My phone is still attached to a wall in my house. So I’m choosing not to post a true picture. Metaphorically speaking, though, the rest will be a picture in fewer than a thousand words.
I’m an elementary teacher of 4th-6th graders. SketchUp is new to me, but not 3D modelling. I’ve been designing with AOI (Art of Illusion) for a couple years. I’m liking SketchUp, which I plan to have students use to solve engineering challenges. Recently, I attended a teacher-training intended to make me comfortable with SketchUp. That was a good start, but I have much more to learn.

For 25 years I’ve used PC’s, used TRS.dos for 10 years before that–and that should give everyone a rough idea of my age. I have installed SketchUp Make 2016.
No website to post or boast yet. At least, none displaying 3D models. I do have a website to promote my children’s novel, Notch Ear’s Sacrifice, but now I’m straying off topic, right?

[/quote]anyway hi my name is mike, Im not an alchoholic but I do think i have a problem. I cant stop creating (or lack there of) with 3d model and sets. ever since I stumbled on onto it recently and quite by accident. Im a newbie to the genre/field . My previous experience in art and profession is pencil and ink drawings-mostly creative and realism and some architectual sketches and invention drawings, sculpting out of anything that will stick to something and stand the test of time, residential and commercial fire/sound rated construction(journey level) automotive custom body mods and steel/fiberglass fabrication, tattoos, tattoo designs and design improvement also cover ups, and some special effects and props for college level short films. I dont know all the benifits sketchup has to offer yet. i usually learn one program at a time teaching it to my self until i feel I have become profficient in the areas that apply to me. but lately Ive decided to take on Daz studio, GrabCad, Skethup, and Pixlr. I usually dont take on so much because of this adult ADD thing but the way I see it, Ill either excell so fast i wont believe it or Ill never get past the tutorials.

Hello SketchUp addicts!

I’m a software engineer and a technical support professional, living in Dallas area. Right now I support an Enterprise IT software system.

I learned to build basic 3D objects when SketchUp was still called Google SketchUp. Recently as I was planning a remodel of my home, I started to watch the Fixer-Upper show by Chip and Joanna and loved the way they help their clients create a dream home. I was especially impressved by the compelling 3D visualization Joanna showed clients on her computer. That brought my attention back to SketchUp.

I noticed that SketchUp had changed a lot since 2005 - numerous releases shipped, a new website built and extension warehouse created. Then I watched a few of those speedup Youtube videos demonstrating modeling a room in SketchUp and rendering a realistic photo leveraging V-Ray. It was really cool!

I look forward to learning SketchUp for interior design and developing useful extensions for it.

Hi, I am a hobbyist who enjoys creating “Stuff”.
I live in Queensland, Australia.
I have SketchUp Make 2016 … and 2015, 2014 too… 2012, and SketchUp 8. Didn’t want to lose my creations so have kept the early versions. Yep - I know.
My Missus (Aussie for partner, not wife, poor person who has to put up with me etc, etc) nearly lives in the backyard.
I have filled up under the house, the bedroom, half the lounge, half the dining room, pantry and the gazebo. The kids are safe for the moment, as they with the Missus emptied their room last weekend. I now inhabit the vestibule, but have to remove my chair whenever anyone comes to the front door. The Missus just bought a new, real big 2 door 4 drawer, 4 shelved unit and delivered it to the vestibule (silly girl), for relocation… yep - it’s full already with sensitive electronic equipment.
I use SketchUp for my dreams, all pretty much very unprofessional, though I do have hopes… ha ha
I love SketchUp as it compliments me - basically it is dead easy to use so I get to express myself.
I have had SketchUp for years but probably only use it once or twice a year so am still a beginner with minor skills.
I haven’t been to a 3DBasecamp yet, would love to go but right now would probably get a little wet due to funding concerns … by the Missus, not me.
I don’t have a 3DW page etc to show off my models atm, but am interested in learning how to use SketchUp with my 3D printers and CNC router. That would make life fun.
I did design a vehicle transmission from the ground up that was pretty awesome.
I also live a couple of blocks from the beach and love it, that’s why I live here in Paradise.
My favorite Emoji is the original cause he’s outstanding, {She if you’re that way inclined :slight_smile: }

Hello, I’m Walt and I’m a manufacture of modeling items in many scales.
Been married going on 54 years to my lovely wife Mary.
My professional background is extensive even though I only have a high school diploma. I’ve been promoted to the engineering dept of a major Fortune 100 company to do product design and development even though I never took drafting courses. I was also asked to do all the architectural drawings for seven new manufacturing plants for this company including the renderings. Owned a printing company for 10 years then a editor of a national computer magazine for 4. Been in various capacities of management, systems administrator of a large publishing company and finally a trainer/consultant in Crystal Reports and was given my own business partnership with Seagate Software. Finished out my work as a long term consultant in reporting systems.
Started the present company five years before retirement as I knew we would need the added income.
I live in Central Indiana USA, I’m retired but a very active 73 yrs. old including being a professional photographer
As a manufacture I work in many areas and have a 24x18 60w laser cutter plus a FormLab Form 1+ 3D printer
Included is also an Epson R3000 photo printer which among other things I use to print heavy Strathmore board with my photos and laser cut those in to limited edition signed puzzles.
I work with AutoSketch a lot as most of my laser cut products are architectural in nature re: shingles, doors, windows, etc. I also work in CorelDraw X5 but not a lot.
I’ve used SketchUp in the past but have been away from it about 10 months do to a major health issue that’s now been resolved so I’m back at it. As I design and manufacture everything I sell I design all my detail casting pieces and this is where SKetchUp comes in. I design items for printing on my Form1+ or from ShapeWays. These are generally used for masters to make RTV silicone molds for casting in resin although I also do hot metal spin casting.
No formal training in Sketchup, just what I’ve gleamed from books, training videos and hands on.
Not sure it’s appropriate to put the name of my company here so I’ll pass on that. We do ship all over the World and only sell what we manufacture ourselves. The company is located in our living room, dining room, garage and, as my wife says, sometimes the kitchen which depends on the size of a given project.
My needs in SketchUp are generally mechanical items that can be reproduced in 3D. Presently working on a new kit that is of a woodworking manufacture. I have a large dust cyclone for the roof and come up with a “top Hat” type wall exhaust fan for the side wall. I plan on developing such things as modular square duct ventilation shafts with “T’s”, “Y’s” etc. that can be assembled various ways. Scales of reproduction are 1:87, 1:67 and 1:48. About 25% of our businesses is in the sale of these castings.
Probable covered more than most want to know but I enjoy what I do.

Hi. I’m Stu75. I am a beginner Sketchup user and am planning to use it for drawing up things that I will carve/saw/drill, etc in my woodworking shop. My background is as a professional geophysicist/control system engineer several years ago…
I live in Calgary and travel quite a lot. Usually make one or two big trips somewhere in the world each year.
I understand a lot of how Sketchup works, but as with all computer programs, there are lots of little features that are not intuitive to me (did I mention I have been retired for several years?) So - I am expecting to use the forum to learn some of those features.

Hi I’m Eric801 living in
a ski and summer resort in BC Canada.
I’m in tourism hospitality
I’ve been using SketchUp for 3 projects spaced over 3 years.
Beginner for sure, can do the basics but havn’t stopped long enough to figure out the shortcuts on drawing my designs quicker.
i.e. placing repetitive objects like studs and rafters. currently I draw each one individually.
or copy and pasted studs or ?
I’ve also not taken the time to figure out what Layout is compared to Make and or other sketchup software
currently I’m looking to hire someone to make shop drawings for me as I’m out of time to do it myself
see Looking for someone to draw my lifejacket/paddle locker in Commercial and Collaborative Work
