Beautiful model… well done… you should post in the corner bar section where you might more exposure for help

we all would

perhaps you would like to share your models on 3d warehouse?

If you just purchased it take it back.

Who are you, who, who? (show us those pearly whites )
I am Fabrice (fab547). I am French and I do like frogs but not so often :slightly_smiling_face:
What is your industry and profession?
I used to have my own design company in Cambodia but now back to France and retired.
Where do you use SketchUp? Personally/professionally?
All the designers in my company were using sketchup and autocad. Now I use it to spend time and make small private design projects.
Why do you use SketchUp and what is your favorite thing about it? (Besides using it to impress the babes…)
Not trying to impress anyone but easier to learn and use than autocad. Especially in 3D design.
How proficient are you in SketchUp? Beginner, intermediate, advanced?
Intermediate but have so much yet to learn!!
What is your current set up? Computer type, SketchUp version…etc. (Your lake house and Ferrari don’t count)
Surface pro 8 SU 2022
I don’t have a favorite emoji but I like the smiling one.
I have not been to the beach for a long time. But I like it when the weather is windy and the swell rough.

Hey! That’s pretty cool!

  • Who are you?
Hi! I’m Paul. Nice to meet you all.

  • What is your industry and profession?
We’re a small residential home builder and remodeling company located in Chelsea, Michigan.

  • Where do you use SketchUp? Personally/professionally?
We use SketchUp to mock up quick designs to help homeowner’s envision what their new deck, garage, or home addition might look like. We rely on professional architects for the actual construction drawings. But SketchUp helps us get the ball rolling in that direction.

  • Why do you use SketchUp and what is your favorite thing about it?
We like SketchUp because it gives us a way to help the client visualize their remodeling vision.
It’s easier to talk about something you can see.

  • How proficient are you in SketchUp? Beginner, intermediate, advanced?
    Very beginner.

  • Have you gone to a SketchUp 3DBasecamp?
    No. What’s that?

  • What is your current set up? [Computer type, SketchUp version…etc.] (Your lake house and
    Ferrari don’t count)

  • Do you have a 3D Warehouse page with your models, Extensions, or a website you would like to link to or show off to us?
Oh boy! No, nothing like that. We’re pretty amateur designers, really. We leave that to the real Pros.
We use SketchUp for rough drafting.

  • Anything else you would like to tell us? (e.g., you once saw a UFO & tried to model it in SketchUp to get a prototype 3D printed…)
Ha! No. Nothing like that…but I did have an intimate conversation with a strangely calming disembodied voice once.
–Long story. Maybe another time

  • What is your favorite Emoji?
Probably praying hands :pray:t4: To us it shows gratitude.
But praying hands are a close second to ROFL  -because we Love to have FUN!

  • Do you enjoy long walks on the beach...?
    Who doesn’t!? Ha!

Martin here. Greetings from sunny Puerto Rico.

I began using SketchUp about six years ago as I was designing the layout of a restaurant. I’m a graphic designer, not an architect, and had everything laid out in 2D but needed a way to draw elevations and perspectives so that people lacking imagination could have an idea of what the spaces would look and feel like. Discovered SketchUp and within a day I managed to do a complete layout along with the actual equipment down to the eighth of an inch. It was just addictive. Have been using it ever since. It’s a powerful and accurate tool for previsualization.

I consider myself an intermediate user, never been to 3D Base Camp and currently use an MSI laptop with a six-core / twelve-thread Intel processor with 64GB RAM and an 8GB RTX 3080 GPU. I don’t have a 3D Warehouse page (I usually go to a previous model and copy elements from it to the next one). You can see some of my work here:

Feverish Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fan here. My most used emoji is the ‘thumbs up’ (not necessarily my favorite one) and… of course I love walking on th beach. Been doing it all my life (I lived within walking distance of the beach for 20 years).

Hi, EngineerAl here. Retired engineer that took up woodworking as a hobby to keep from driving my wife crazy by following her around. I have now developed a sideline company (Silver Ridge Woodworking) and do all types of CNC work (furniture, signs, etc.). I also do laser engraving, although that is a new offshoot as of early this year. I use Sketchup for all my furniture designs and have even designed small custom sheds and gazebos (sp?) with it. In fact, I have designed and built 13 horse shelters. I have a Shopbot PRS Alpha (48" x 96") with a Japanese-made spindle. My laser work is done on a Glowforge Pro. Looking forward to interacting with other users!

Hi, I am retired anesthesologist. I like to use SketchUp for visualisation of technology concepts. May be I do need help later, the user interface is not easy and intuitive.

Welcome to SketchUp and the Community Forum. I’m a retired Instructor of Anesthesiology (grand title) and Biomedical Equipment Specialist. I used to use SketchUp for modeling things like small medical items and layouts for ORs and other anesthesia sites.

You can certainly find assistance here if you have questions. And if you can find your way around a physiological monitor, you can get the SketchUp UI down.

Thanks Dave for offering help. for my start I am looking for a device to assist home care and physicians basic patient examination. You can contact me also at my mail. You may have a perfect personal topic for an interesting exchange. Thanks Michael

Michael,

I’ll send you a message shortly. You should edit your post and remove your e-mail address. It’s available to bots and other scavengers.

Hi, Im trying to send drawings from Sketchup iPad to Sketchup on my Mac

Who are you? Even my name requires three lines, and then I’m telling more about myself than I want online! I don’t want to be found by bots, and don’t want anything offered to me that I didn’t ask for, so I’ve been trying to stay very low-key anywhere on the web. But my real nickname is Gigi. I was born and raised in Germany, until my family emigrated from there when I was almost twelve. I still speak and read the language, and would visit once a year if I enjoyed flying.

What is your industry and profession? I am officially retired. I have always been an artist, although not always by profession. I was a contract interior designer, specializing in corporate offices (up to 25,000 sq. ft.) and liked space planning the best. I know it is the one thing I do the best, above all things. I used AutoCAD in the later years. My hand drafting and lettering were always desirable to architects.
Where do you use SketchUp? Not using SketchUp to make money – using it for friends and family, and a couple of non-profit institutions I support.
Why do you use SketchUp and what is your favorite thing about it? Love it! Although I used AutoCAD for years, I never got the 3D thing right. When I wanted quick perspectives, I extruded everything vertically, and used those lines and endpoints to trace a perspective from it. As an artist and illustrator also, it was easier than learning it! Playing with SU the first time just blew my head off!
How proficient are you in SketchUp? I’ve been using SU off and on for many years, but not consistently. I should be far more advanced. I want to learn to draft in SU in a hygienic way – making no mistakes that will bite me you-know-where, later! I do keep getting myself in trouble, and want to avoid that!
Have you gone to a SketchUp 3DBasecamp? No, seems great, but I’m a home body! Too much to do, here.
What is your current set up? Puget 166469; Windows 10 Pro; Intel Core i7-6950 CPU 3 GHz; 64 GB RAM; NVIDEA GeForce GTX 1080; 27" Asus monitor – but I have problems with my computer.
Do you have a 3D Warehouse page with your models, Extensions, or a website you would like to link to or show off to us? Yes > Warehouse. Mostly residential furniture, lamps, etc., but also steel flat files; old-school drafting board; artist’s easel; and had the first cat “tree” in the warehouse.
Anything else you would like to tell us? I once piloted the Staten Island Ferry from Staten Island, and docked it on the Manhattan side
What is your favorite Emoji? All the big laughing ones!
Do you enjoy long walks on the beach…? No. You get sand in your shoes, and it gets all over everything, and weeks later you’re still trying to get the sand out of everything…

Let’s get this party started! Woot! :tada: You might notice that this thread is quite long by now… if you’d like to skip ahead, simply click on the bottom of the timeline directly to the right of this post.

Who am I? I’m Brandon. Nodnarb is my nickname which is my name backwards.

What is my industry and profession? Currently don’t have any yet, but I’m looking at eventually getting a degree in Architecture.

Where do I use SketchUp? Personally on a laptop I need to upgrade eventually.

Why do I use SketchUp and what is my favorite thing about it? I just started getting into it and for the purpose of attempting to further design a passion project I’ve had for some years. Favorite thing about it is it’s similar to autocad which I still can’t afford yet.

How proficient am I in SketchUp? I’m a beginner.

Have I gone to a SketchUp 3DBasecamp? Not yet?

What is my current set up? An acer chromebook that doesn’t charge that I use in the living room hooked up to the tv for a bigger picture.

Do I have a 3D Warehouse page with my models, Extensions, or a website I would like to link to or show off to everyone? Nope. Not yet?

Anything else I would like to tell everyone? “(e.g., you once saw a UFO & tried to model it in SketchUp to get a prototype 3D printed…)”…ha…I wish. However, I will share that I’ve loved Architecture and landscaping since I was a kid. My grandparents pretty much did the raising and exposed me to alot of good and cool things growing up aside from teaching me a decent amount of stuff. Later on, I also picked up a love for designing cities. For a rough example, I’ve had my own venus project since before I ever became aware of it. My dream has been to eventually become my own Frank Lloyd Wright (which is my first inspirational influence). I like his approach as well as Michael Reynolds(Founding father of Earthship homes), and a new recent one being Paolo Soleri(Founded Arcology and Arcosanti).
