Hi! My name is Don. I am retired, having spent most of my working years in sales (B2B/Wholesale) in the automotive industry. I am currently using SketchUp Shop. Now that I am retired and moved into a new (for me) house I have time to pursue my woodworking hobby. So far I’ve used SketchUp to create small projects - that is except for the 8’ x 8’ bar I built last year. My main problem is that I use SketchUp infrequently, so actually learning it is an issue. I take three steps forward and then two back so when I use it again I forgot most of what learned the last time.
I use Windows 10 and a pretty goof Nvidia card so rendering the models is not a problem.

Hi guys and gals
I’m Rob Van Wyck a.k.a. Rupert from Canada. I just found this forum tonight. I’ve been struggling with Sketchup for Web for a week now as a rank beginner and I’m looking for information. Hope this is the place. To answer the questions:
****Who are you?** I’m a 70 yr old retired teacher and musician.
What is your industry and profession? I’ve no industry but do build structures at our camp and now in the yard.
Where do you use SketchUp? Personally/professionally? Just trying it out now for my Super-Shed!!!
Why do you use SketchUp and what is your favorite thing about it? Not relying on it to impress the babes … but I really like the appearance of the things I’m making.
How proficient are you in SketchUp? Rank Beginner
Have you gone to a SketchUp 3DBasecamp? Never heard of it.
What is your current set up? [Computer type, SketchUp version…etc.] *Mac, and SU for Web
Do you have a 3D Warehouse page with your models, Extensions, or a website you would like to link to or show off to us? Hah!
Anything else you would like to tell us? Glad you’re here and hope to make use of this community and hopefully be able to add something to it too.

Hi! I’m Michael Courtney - Once I’m cool enough I’d appreciate it if everyone referred to me as Mad Mike Da Money Maker… No? ok then ill just go back to my corner… On a serious note tho, glad to be here! Thanks for creating this platform.
Oh ok… so Im from a little forgotten town deep in the south tip of Texas on the Gulf border of Mexico called Harlingen. I think this used to be the bottom of a lake at one time.
I gotta admit, I have not read all the forum posting rules but Im assuming that we shouldn’t post links so Ill just stay safe and stay away from doing that, but I am a self proclaimed 3d Floor plan architect. In my head Im already famous even tho I wear the same shirt 3 times a week but i wash it the same amount of times. Not because Im poor but because I love the shade of blue this shirt has. My poorness is a topic for another day jk
Just in case you missed it, the Forum’s rules are the bulk of the FAQ at FAQ - SketchUp Community.
And here’s an animation of how to get there without a link - done in a full, non-mobile, browser. Starting point is the upper/right of any page on this forum:
Finally, I’d like to commend you on starting to fill out your Forum profile! Too many people who are new to the forum don’t maintain it - and the information in it often helps people here answer questions you might ask - especially if the problem you report might be related to either the hardware or Operating System you use!
However, your profile information could stand a few tweaks - specifically:
Are you using the Web Version (Shop or Free) or the downloaded version available only through SketchUp Pro? It’s unclear ONLY because you also say your version is “Trial”.
If you’re using SketchUp Pro - as downloaded to run locally (as opposed to SketchUp Shop - with IS included with a SketchUp Pro subscription) - What major VERSION of SketchUp. As you say you’re new, the right answer is probably “2022” - but could be “2021” as 2022 was only release in the last week or two!
What version of Windows? Ideally, the build number - which you can find through the Settings App in Windows → System → About - listed as “OS Build” under “Windows Specifications” if you have (I think) Windows 10 or later. Not sure how to find it for older Windows versions!
